Lovely Weekend
March 25, 2007
It's been a lovely weekend here in Edinburgh. On Saturday morning the sky was a misty Atlantic blue and on Samson's ribs the birds were singing sweetly while a butterfly and bumble bee went by. Below the sounds of the city filtered up.
Today we drove to the sea at Longniddry. I saw a peculiar washed up creature that was very like a slug with spines. I think there are such things as sea slugs, so perhaps this was one of them. I'll look it up later. I collected a few tiny shells which I've just put on my bedroom windowsill. When my son was small we used to collect bits of nature like this all the time and make nature tables till we got Rex as a puppy and he ate up all the little bones we'd collected.
We used to make an Easter garden too with bits of moss and so on. Then it would get filled with tiny Easter eggs on Easter Sunday.
Come to think of it, shells might look rather nice in here, my journal page. I've moved the armchair in from the apartment in Florence. I hope you're finding it comfortable. But the room could do with a bit more decoration. I tried picking out one of the scarves and using that as a flourish round the headings, but it looked like an old sock dangling there so I took it out.
Now I must press on with writing code to send off the askmammy newsletter and an idea I've had for the computermike site.
